Gratitude

Newport Sunshine Initiative – Sunflowers! Check out how Newport is being visually transformed….

Gratitude and Sharing:

When we have the great joy of being able to achieve, as well as the many tangible benefits that are earned along with it, it is then incumbent upon us to share. We share with others because we want to do good for others and because we are blessed. As Americans, we know that it’s the right thing to do. Interestingly, as we share a rather curious thing also happens. The act of sharing actually makes us feel even better about ourselves.

Importantly, as we set out to engage in sharing, we must be very thoughtful. While the simple act of giving can be helpful, the greatest form of sharing is that which empowers others to on go on to achieve their own earned success – after the initial sharing occurs. This is a philosophy of sharing that goes far beyond handouts and is predicated on providing large doses of inspiration, the sharing of a ‘Can Do’ Positive American Philosophy and a supportive approach that helps individuals see and pursue the wonderful opportunities that can be achieved. Further, as we engage in sharing with those who are less fortunate, we as Americans can never lose sight of our positive vision and the need to share our optimistic spirit. Sharing much more than simply material support.

Profile of the Week – Dan and Christine Benner:

Here is a couple that serves as a wonderful model for the spirit of sharing and caring that exemplifies small town America. Dan and Christine Benner – who could choose to live anywhere in New England – and chose Newport, NH to plant their roots nearly one year ago – and are now having a strong positive impact on the community.

Christine grew up in a small town in the Midwest, not unlike Newport. Graduated from Notre Dame and went on to do earn her masters in political science at American University. Dan grew up and went to college in Pennsylvania and now manages regional sales for Tremco, a company specializing in commercial roofing and waterproofing for schools, hospitals, manufacturing, etc.

Christine and Dan met in D.C. and after getting married, relocated to Derry, NH, for work.

However, once seeing Newport and getting a sense for the strong community spirit, they bought a house and moved to town.

Together they are making awesome things happening in Newport. Making friends, starting a community group and taking care of their dog, Bella, whom they rescued from Florida after Hurricane Irma. It’s the positive vibe of people like Dan and Christine that provides the enduring fabric of ‘small town America’ and give us confidence that our future will be bright and exciting.

Gratitude For Those Who Serve:

Recently, had the opportunity to describe the mission of Children of Fallen Patriots. Taking care of any child who loses a parent in active military service…. Paying for their education all the way thru college….Plays enjoy listening to this great podcasting team….
