Really ‘Get It Going.’

Kicking Off the New Year with Enthusiasm.
As we start the New Year, with all our terrific resolutions for 2019, let’s kick things off with ENTHUSIASM!
It’s so true that one of the most important human traits is enthusiasm. In my book, ‘American Sunshine,’ I try to convey a positivity and a ‘can do’ optimism. So very vital to success. And if the optimism can be hyper-charged and infused by a genuine enthusiasm, there is almost no limit to what can be achieved. So, as we begin the world anew with a fresh exciting year ahead, let’s resolve to reach down, with exhilaration and joy, and tap into our deep reservoir of positive energy – our enthusiasm and zest for life.
As I’m sure you have experienced, the power of the human spirit is a dynamic force that is highly contagious. When enthusiasm is in the air, it can be easily transferred from one person to another; from one person to many. Enthusiasm is a true ‘force multiplier.’
‘Enthusiasm Throwback’ - In the Small Town and on the National Stage.
At the turn of the year, we often take a look back and try to recreate the lively spirit of times past. There is just something about the idea of ‘New Beginnings,’ that stimulates a nostalgia for the past. And a unique enthusiasm to re-live those bygone moments.
For instance, In my New Hampshire hometown of Newport, we recently brought back a sporting event to take place at the old Town Hall, now the Newport Opera House – high school wrestling for the whole town to see. Just like the old days.
Meanwhile, on the national scene, you might also be familiar with the Winter Outdoor Classic, where NHL teams, recreate hockey the way it was meant to be played – OUTDOORS - on January 1st every year. And if you’ve ever seen hockey – up close and outdoors, you know the excitement and enthusiasm that it generates. By the way, the Classic was won by our beloved Boston Bruins.
The Enthusiasm of Youth – in New Beginnings.
In government, January is typically the month of inaugurations. Most often to be kicked off with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Excited for my son, Gates, a newly elected member of the New Hampshire Legislature. The expression on the face of this young new Representative says it all.
